Sewing School For Kid's is currently on hold. Our main instructor is on medical leave.
Class size is limited to 4 students.
The Sewing School for Kids program is designed to teach kids 7 and up to sew using a sewing machine. Enrollment is ongoing, with a one hour class every week.
To do this we start with an initial safety lesson which includes learning a sewing machine, basic safety rules and some practice stitching on paper.
After this lesson the first project is either a backpack or a drawstring bag, the student can choose their preference, and you will be given your shopping list for the pattern and supplies needed.
Once the first project is complete, students can choose to work out of one of three different books with Instructions geared towards kids, which include 7 - 8 patterns. This will take them about 9 months to a year to make all of the patterns. Then they have enough skills to branch out to other projects and patterns.
You will be responsible for purchasing the supplies to make each project. If you choose to purchase supplies at the Electric Needle, you would want to plan to arrive early to shop, and you will enjoy 15% off your class supplies - please just remind us they are for class.
We have sewing machines available in the classroom for each student to use. If your student has their own machine and would like to learn on it, you are welcome to bring that in for class.
When you sign up your child, you choose an available time slot and then come weekly at that time. The cost for the 1 hour weekly class is $20 a class. For your convenience, we take payment for the entire month of classes at the beginning of each month.
If your child is sick we prefer they stay home and rest. Please let us know ahead of time, we can move payment to the next month's fees. If we need to cancel a class for some reason, we will call or e mail you and the class fees will be transferred to the next month's fees.
To find the availability of a class times please come in, call (608-422-5449) or email the store (eneedle@hotmail.com).
If you prefer a private lesson, those can be scheduled for $30/hour for one child ages 7 - 13, or $50/hour for 2 children ages 7 - 13.
Give your child the life long skill of sewing.
