Bag Techniques Class 1

Are you interested in sewing one of many byAnnie quilted bags? Are you confused by the directions? Do you need help to complete bag components for any bag you might like to sew? This class will help you to learn and/or perfect those components. This is a hands-on class; you will be sewing samples. Sample materials will be included in class fees.

 

Curriculum

Class #1

1. Sealing quilted pieces with 3 step zig zag

2. Sewing and attaching fabric zipper pulls

3. Attaching buttons and stay buttons to protect the bottom of your bag

4. Quilting with masking tape

5. Sewing on vinyl for pockets

6. Sewing straps and handles, finishing the ends

7. Marking stitching and placement lines on bag

8. Sewing zipper strips and adding single binding

9. Shoulder strap pad

Instructor Bio:
Carolyn Behrens loved fabric and creating from her early years growing up in the Kickapoo Valley. So inspired by her high school home ec teacher, Carolyn followed in her footsteps, went to UW-Stout and taught Home Ec/Face for 34 years. Now retired, she still loves to share information with others whenever she can. You will find her teaching classes at the Senior Center in Whitewater. Or playing pickleball. Or doing long distance bike rides. Or teaching her two granddaughters to sew and scrapbook. Carolyn's family also includes one son, one daughter, and a husband of nearly 50 years. No wonder her glass is always half full!
